General description |
This course is designed both to provide students with a historic overview of American Literature (1865 to the Present), and to introduce them to some representative American writers, and the corresponding literary movements (Realism, Naturalism, Modernism, Postmodernism, as well as Multi-Ethnic Literatures). The aim is to look at literary genres (drama, poetry, novel, short story), and to get a grasp of multi-ethnic contemporary America. Since this is a survey course, students should end up with an overall clear picture of the evolutions and transformations of American Literature throughout time, geography, gender, and race. |
