* Issues for debate: how important is ethics? How can ethics be practiced in the mass media (e.g. advertising, songs)?
a. comparisons (formal/informal); different/related word meanings
b. adverbial positions; word pairs
c. dramatic verbs; story telling
7. Laying down the law: Getting away with it. Every step you take. Not guilty!

* Issues for debate: Is society prepared to fight against discrimination--e.g. sexism, racism, ageism? Do laws help society to behave differently? What is the role of education in all this?

* Issues for debate: Are women and men born different? Do culture and socialization influence how we are, what we fear (or are stopped by), and how we feel?

b. word building; suffixes; comment adverbials
c. idiomatic phrases; spelling (common misspelled words)
9. Cash: Where does it all go? Cash-free. A gloomy science?

* Issues for debate: Does money make us free? Does the free market lead to other forms of liberation--e.g. sexual liberation? Do spirititual and affective issues count at all in the contemporary world?
a. price vs cost; simple vs continuous; multi-meaning verbs
b. word building; productive suffixes; a/an vs one; few/a few/quite a few
c. presenting information; giving a talk; connecting words (reason and result); spelling (-ible/able)
