Methodologies Description
Document analysis Bibliographic selection related to the topic of study. At least 80% of the works that justify the interest of your research must be of scientific quality, in English and included in bibliographic databases such as Medline.
Oral presentation The work must be presented and defended before a panel to be appointed by the Master's Academic Committee. The examining board will be formed by three professors/doctors from the teaching staff of the degree. The evaluation of the work will take into account the report presented, the public presentation and the answers to the questions of the examining board. The scientific rigor, the consistency of the process developed and its original contributions will be especially valued. The reading and defense will take place in a public session during the academic year and will be called by the president of the examining board and made public on the Center's bulletin boards. Once the defense of the thesis is finished, each member of the examining board will formulate a written evaluation of the thesis, according to the competences achieved and defined, both generic and transversal, in the degree.
In accordance with article 5 of RD 1125/2003, the examining board will award a quantitative and a qualitative grade that will include the grade of "fail" (from 0 to 4.9), "pass" (from 5 to 6.9), "notable" (from 7 to 8.9) or "outstanding" (from 9 to 10).
The examining board may award the grade of "matrícula de honor" if the overall grade is "sobresaliente" (outstanding) and if all its members vote in favor, taking into account the regulations of each University in this regard.
Supervised projects The work will consist of the elaboration and public presentation of a research carried out by the student in which special emphasis will be placed on the application of such research to the field of gerontology and geriatrics. The evaluation committee will give special consideration to the presentation and exposition of the final research report.
In order for a proposal to be considered accepted and for the student to proceed with its development and elaboration, the student must present, before the end of the second four-month period, to the Master's Academic Committee, a proposal of the work he/she intends to develop, including the following elements:
- Summary, maximum one thousand words, of the content of the project (background, objectives and hypothesis of the research, methodology to be used in the work).
- Outline or general table of contents (possible structure in chapters and main headings of the work to be carried out).
- Bibliographic selection related to the topic of study. At least 80% of the works that justify the interest of the research must be of scientific quality, in English and included in bibliographic databases such as Medline.
- Signature of the tutor and the student.
Once the proposal has been approved by the Committee and the tutor, the student will proceed with the development of the final work. Once finished and according to the established deadlines, the student must send a copy in digital format through the Moodle platform to the Master's coordinator or to the e-mail address admongig@udc.es, in this case with acknowledgement of receipt. A copy of the paper in printed format can be delivered (optional) to the secretary's office of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Both copies must have the VºBº of the Director of the work. The Master's Thesis may be directed by several professors. In this case the report must be endorsed by all of them.
