General description Historically, the study of Chemistry has been divided into large Areas of Knowledge, one of which is Inorganic Chemistry, a discipline that addresses the study of the properties, structure and reactivity of all of all the elements and their compounds except hydrocarbons and most of its derivatives as well as the theoretical interpretation of the link and its properties. For this reason, two of the most characteristic features of Inorganic Chemistry today are, on the one hand, its great diversity and, on the other, its interdisciplinary character. Its relevance is given by the fact that this discipline goes beyond purely academic limits. Thus, in our daily life there are countless inorganic products that we use regularly and many inorganic species are involved in relevant environmental aspects that are an important part of life itself as we know it. In the study plan of the current Degree in Chemistry at the UDC, the teaching of General Inorganic Chemistry is proposed in the second year through two subjects: Inorganic Chemistry 1 and Inorganic Chemistry 2, theoretical-practical subjects in which the University diversifies the core material Inorganic Chemistry. Inorganic Chemistry 1 deals with the study of non-metallic elements and their compounds and from an academic point of view of the other subjects in this area of ??knowledge that are taught during the following degree courses.
