O obxectivo principal da materia é proporcionar ao alumnado os fundamentos básicos sobre a computación usando clusters de computadores e a computación Cloud, as súas arquitecturas e compoñentes subxacentes, así coma das tecnoloxías de almacenamento en rede e os sistemas de ficheiros distribuidos máis empregados nestas contornas.
