Esta materia introduce e describe os conceptos básicos da estatística, comezando pola estatística descritiva de unha o máis variables, pasando pola teoría de probabilidades, o concepto de variable aleatoria e as distribucións de probabilidade. Ademais, tendo en conta a súa crecente importancia, introduciranse as series de tempo (datos característicos dos procesos de dixitalización), os indicadores bibliométricos, da calidade das bibliotecas e os números índice. Tamén se introducirá o sofware estatístico R e as súas diversas aplicacións.
