General description It is intended to provide the student with basic tools that allow them to approach the design and project of building structures from an ecological point of view and compliance with various environmental criteria. Today collaborative self-construction systems and the use of certain materials and constructive / structural techniques, such as cob, superadobe or geodesic domes, are booming. It is about analyzing these and other materials, as well as various structural systems from this new perspective. On the other hand, some basic aspects of ecological construction philosophy are introduced, where movements such as Permaculture or the like cannot be left out, which will help to a large extent to understand the processes of ecological design and construction of structures. We introduce the concept of Ecostructures, conveying the need for criteria of structural efficiency and not only of materials that form a certain structure. This structural efficiency will normally be linked to a minimal environmental impact. Finally, we should not neglect a priori materials and knowledge that we have acquired throughout our civilization. We must bring new environmental perspectives to be able to treat materials such as steel, wood or concrete. Thus, it is about the student acquiring knowledge and skills in the various project techniques of Ecostructures, both from a purely project point of view, as well as materials. The course is complemented with the analysis of various real works. The course will also be taught in "distance" mode. its particularities are developed in the teaching documentation of the subject
