General description Esta guía corresponde ao exercicio de elaboración e defensa pública dun traballo fin de mestrado, de carácter obrigatorio

Objectives of the research work (TFM) - Study of any area of social policy and social intervention.
- It will preferably be aimed at solving a real problem.
- Integrate the knowledge acquired during the training stage.
- To make a personal and well-founded assessment of the central topic of study that reflects the ethical and social responsibilities implicit in it.
Development of the TFM - The report must be carried out by applying the scientific research process and demonstrate that the competences of the degree have been acquired.
- Autonomous development of the student's critical, analytical and creative skills.
Two options:
(i) The completion of a linked project developed during the internship period in companies or institutions;
(ii) the completion of an original research project based on the student's own idea or the proposal of the lecturer directing the dissertation.
- The report will be carried out under the supervision of an assigned tutor.
Defence of the TFM
- Ability to communicate your ideas to an expert audience.
- The Final Master's dissertation will be defended by the student before a committee of experts.

Methodologies Description
Oral presentation Preparation and completion of a presentation for the public defence of the dissertation in front of the examining board.
Critical bibliographical Reading, synthesis and critical analysis of texts for the preparation of the theoretical framework of the dissertation.
Research (Research project) Carrying out and public defence of a written work that develops and demonstrates the knowledge acquired in the master's degree, applied to a specific topic related to the specialities of the master's degree. This is project will be carried out under the supervision of an assigned tutor.

Information about the procedure and defence will be published on Moodle and communicated to students through the UDC's email.

Description
Personalised attention TFM Coordination:
- Information on the process and deadlines for the completion and defence of the TFM, as well as other issues of interest to students, will be published and communicated by the TFM coordinator through the institutional channels: Moodle and UDC email.
- Group tutorials will be held to provide information on the process of carrying out and defending the work. Virtual tutorials will be held to encourage student participation online. For both modalities, a forum will be opened on the Moodle platform, with the aim of resolving any doubts about the process of carrying out and defending the TFM.

Personalised attention to the direction of the TFMs:
- The Master's Thesis will be carried out under the supervision of a director. (Co-direction is also permitted).
- The director will guide the student in the process of carrying out the research.
- Before the presentation or public defence of the dissertation, the director will have to give his/her approval through the virtual secretary's office on the dates foreseen.
- The means of communication and the calendar will be established between the student and the director.
The tutoring of students in online mode will be carried out virtually, through the systems established between the student and the director of the project.

In other words, the report must reflect the knowledge acquired during the training period, the student's ability to apply this knowledge, the ability to base their own responsible assessment, and analytical and critical thinking within the subjects of the master's degree. 80

It will be carried out by the students in a public session and before a committee or tribunal formed by the Master's teaching staff and appointed by the TFM Coordination. The calendar of defences, the composition of the tribunals and the organisation and structure of the public event will be communicated by the coordination, once it has been established. 20
 
Assessment comments

In order to be assessed for the master's thesis, the following will be required:

1) have passed the remaining credits of the master's degree (subjects and practical period).  

2) have registered for the course.

3) have been assigned a central theme or title and a tutor.

The calendar of public defence and available calls are in accordance with the conditions established annually by the University of A Coruña for all postgraduate degrees. The timetable and procedure is common for on-campus and online students. Online students, who are unable to attend the defence ceremony in person, must contact the coordination for their presentation through virtual tools.  

The recommendations for their preparation and defence will be published by the coordination of the TFMs, through the institutional channels: Moodle and email of the UDC.

Plagiarised work, in whole or in part, will be immediately suspended. All aspects related to "academic dispensation", "dedication to study", "permanence" and "academic fraud" will be governed in accordance with the current academic regulations of the UDC
