General description Esta materia pretende posibilitar o ensino sistemático do Ordenamento xurídico que está destinado a regular a sociedade/comunidade internacional, facilitando a comprensión entre o alumnado dos problemas básicos que rodean aquel.

Desde unha perspectiva xurídico-formal, o Dereito internacional preséntaselle ao alumnado na súa dimensión positiva, ofrecendo o maior número posible de referencias á normativa en vigor. Esta perspectiva complétase cunha aproximación histórico-sociolóxica, expoñendo ao alumnado as realidades subxacentes ás normas e o medio concreto en que estas están chamadas a rexer, posto que para un ensino eficaz da materia é fundamental unha exposición dos acontecementos históricos e dos acontecementos sociolóxicos.

Así mesmo, ambos os enfoques acompáñanse dunha aproximación axiolóxica ao dereito internacional, coa finalidade de procurar unha constante valoración da norma co ideal de Xustiza. Desde logo, a dimensión finalista da actividade docente conduce a que o ensino non se reduza a unha descrición do ordenamento xurídico internacional, senón que debe facerse reflexionar o alumno sobre o conxunto de valores que inspiran e aos que aspira este ordenamento. Desta forma, ao ensinar e difundir o Dereito internacional preténdese contribuír, en boa medida, a facer progresar a Sociedade internacional e os suxeitos que a compoñen na vía da paz.

Tendo en conta o contido esencial desta disciplina científica, a súa docencia exponse desde unha visión realista, pero co firme propósito de facer partícipe o alumnado dos valores que inspiran o ordenamento xurídico internacional, apuntando, cando sexa posible, suxestións para a mellora das normas que o integran e insistindo, sobre todo, no seu cumprimento. Neste contexto sitúase unha das funcións máis importantes da docencia do Dereito internacional público: demostrarlle ao estudantado, e convencelo, de que esta é unha disciplina cada vez máis relevante na formación de todo xurista e que tomen conciencia da perspectiva internacional, que lles confire o coñecemento do Ordenamento xurídico internacional, como un elemento imprescindible do mundo interdependente.

A función docente universitaria, en que se combina unha función informativa e outra formativa, debe servir para formar xuristas que poidan atopar saídas profesionais vinculadas cos seus estudos pero, sobre todo, tamén debe servir para formar e potenciar as capacidades intelectuais dos estudantes para que poidan e saiban afrontar de forma crítica os valores e as actitudes sociais que se desenvolven nas sociedades nacionais e internacional de que eles forman parte.

Guest lecture / keynote speech Theory and seminars on the contents of the programme.
Introductory activities The lecturers will be coupled with workshops directed to solving problems, which will usually involve reading international legal instruments and case law.
Problem solving The lecturers will be coupled with workshops directed to solving problems, which will usually involve reading international legal instruments and case law.
Case study The course will also involve a refection paper, an exam and different research papers in public international law. All the activities will count towards the final grade.
Students are expected to be able to put their prior knowledge to bear on the problems and issues presented in this course.
Document analysis The requirements for the paper and the cases discussed will be uploaded on Moodle in due course
Objective test The exam will be final and will consist in various questions based in paragraphs of the programme.

The final examination will be oral and will represent 60% of the total grade. It will take place at the end of the semester on the basis of classes given during the course, and will consist in various questions based in paragraphs of the programme.
It is necessary to get a minimum 5/10 for the final exam. On the contrary, the Course will not be considered as passed.

B. Law degree (in Spanish):
- Early shift: The final exam will be combined between a multiple-choice test and of short answers to questions through different online platforms (Moodle, FORMS, etc.) that will take place in the classroom. The time estimated to answer will be of 30 seconds by question in the multiple-choice option and of 60 seconds by questions in the ones of short answer.
- Late shift: The final exam will be written and will consist of several questions based on paragraphs of the programme.

C. Bilingual degree:
The final exam will be written and will take place at the end of the semester. It will represent 40% of the final grade. It will consist of various questions based on paragraphs of the programme.

Assessment comments
BILINGUAL DEGREE: The final exam of the course will be written. It will represent 40% of the final grade and the other activities will mark 60% of the final grade.

Any attempt of fraud or plagiarism in any activities that will be developed during the course or during the final exam will be penalised with an automatic suspense as the final grade of the Course(0).
