General description Dotar ao alumno de coñecementos relacionados coa gramática inglesa e o vocabulario específico
do mundo náutico e do transporte marítimo. Estudiaranse estructuras gramaticais recurrentes no Inglés para Fins Específicos. Iniciarase ao alumno no vocabulario técnico do ámbito da Inxeñería Náutica e Transporte Marítimo.

Correo electrónico (consultarase de luns a venres en horario de 9:00 a 17:00) e Moodle (a súa frecuencia semanal dependerá das tarefas).

*Observacións de avaliación:
As probas faranse a través de Moodle (quizáis tamén Teams) nas datas establecidas e de xeito síncrono. No caso de fallos xerais no sistema ou problemas de conexión debidamente xustificados, facilitarase o envío da proba por correo electrónico sempre e cando se faga dentro do horario establecido para a realización da mesma.

We will analyse technical English texts related to their academic degree (navigation, types of ships, communications at sea…), focusing on the study of technical vocabulary (meaning, pronunciation…), Seapeak (English for Maritime Communications) and English for Specific Purposes grammar structures, to train the students in the usage of Maritime English according to the requirements stated in the 78/95 STCW, 2010 Manila Amendments.

The development and overcoming of these contents, together with those corresponding to other subjects that include the acquisition of specific competencies of the degree, guarantees the knowledge, comprehension and sufficiency of the competencies contained in Table AII / 2, of the STCW Convention, related to the level of management of chief mates of the Merchant Navy, on ships without gross tonnage limitation and Master up to a maximum of 3000 GT. 		1) GRAMMAR

Seguimento personalizado de cada unha das fases dos traballos a realizar por parte do alumnado, tanto no referente ao seu progreso, como á resolución e aclaración das dúbidas que se lle puideran ir plantexando durante a elaboración e desenrolo dos mesmos.

Assessment comments

- Deadlines are strict: missed or late assignments will not be
collected, nor graded.

- In order to pass the course a minimum of 5 out of 10 in the final mark is required. A score of 4 out of 10 is the minimum required in each part of the course contents (grammar structures and technical English).

- End of term exam: x/5. The student must achieve a minimum score
of 2 out of 5 in the exam to add the class assignment marks (x/5) to it. Likewise,
a total minimum score of 2 out of 5 in the class assignments is required to
add the exam marks (x/5) to it. Otherwise, he will be given a final score
of 4.8 (x/10) and will have to sit for the "second opportunity exam
session" in July. Those students who do not sit the exam will be given a
grade of NP (absent).

- July opportunity
("second opportunity exam session"): x/10. Those students who are absent from or
fail the official examination session will have to sit for the "second
opportunity exam session" in July, where a minimum of 5 out of 10
is required in order to pass the course. This exam will include all the
assignments done during the term.

- Students sitting the December
exam (final exam brought forward) will be assessed according to the
criteria specified for the July opportunity.

 - Students who are officially registered as part
time, and have been granted permission not to attend classes, as stipulated
in the regulations of this University, will be assessed in either of the
opportunities according to the same criteria specified for the second
opportunity.
