This course is designed to provide students with an overview of anglophone writers from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania. We will provide an introduction to the socio-historical background of colonial and postcolonial anglophone literatures. We will explore specific 20th c. postcolonial theories and new schools such as Diaspora and Transnational Studies and apply them to a selection of literary texts.
