This course introduces the student in the field of structural optimization. The main objectives are: to define the approach to the problem of the optimal design of structures; describe the most performant linear and non-linear optimization methods; explain the concept of sensitivity analysis and the methods for carrying it out; demonstrate applications of optimal design in diverse structural types and introduce computer codes of structural optimization.
