History of Western historiography, from Antiquity to Contemporary Age. The course will focus on the historiographical sources, normally literary authors, not only analysing the thematic preferences and the ideology of chroniclers and historians, but also - since it is a Faculty of Philology - giving particular emphasis to the relations of these authors with the concurrent literary genres representing the past, notably epics and novel. Moreover, the study of the historical contexts (ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary) will be a conditio sine qua non to go deeper into the authors involved.
