In the so-called information society, knowledge society, learning society, multiscreen society, entertainment society, global society, network society, digital society, multicultural society, market society, unequal society, society in crisis ... schools should prepare students for this changeable context. The omnipresence of media and its power in Western societies requires that, these media and their predominant audiovisual speeches,have to be present in classrooms and schools from Early Childhood Education. As we know, girls and boys are consumers of media from an early age, therefore, future teachers of these educational levels need to develop competences related to media education, both in their initial training and in their permanent training. The aim sought in this subject of media education is to promote media literacy, acting as critical receptors and active and creative participants who are committed to the defense of democratic values. |
