It introduces students to the basic concepts of Microbiology, both theoretical and practical: structure of microorganisms; bacterial physiology; introduction to Virology; microbial genetics; phylogeny and systematics of microorganisms. It is the basis for other subjects in the same field, either compulsory or optional. It is complemented with other subjects of the Degree, such as Biochemistry, Genetics, Ecology, etc.
