  • Ralph ELLISON: Invisible Man (novel).
  • Toni MORRISON: Song of Solomon (novel).
  • Maxine Hong KINGSTON: The Woman Warrior (selected chapters).
  • Selected short stories by Gish Jen, Toni Morrison, Viet Thanh Nguyen and Karen Tei Yamashita.

Apart from these longer texts, which should be read before class, a few short texts (poems and excerpts) will be provided and discussed in class; excerpts from works by Lorraine Hansberry, Langston Hugues, Karen Tei Yamashita or Viet Thanh Nguyen, among other authors.
