A asignatura pretende que se valore a importancia das Ciencias da Natureza nesta etapa educativa e que se recoñezan as implicacións actuais da ciencia e a tecnoloxía para comprender e respetar o noso contorno.
Asemade, abordarase o desenvolvemento curricular e trataranse os procesos de ensino e aprendizaxe do coñecemento científico, así coma os recursos, experiencias, resolución de problemas, etc. axeitados á metodoloxía científica.
Tamén se analizarán e deseñarán propostas educativas que inclúan as interaccións Ciencia-Tecnoloxía-Sociedade e Desenvolvemento Sustentable.
