A materia presenta un percorrido polas principais correntes pedagóxicas contemporáneas, desde unha perspectiva teórica, antropolóxica, política e social, para comprender as chaves da acción educativa. O obxectivo é coñecer e reflexionar sobre os contextos que interveñen e posibilitan (ou non) a educación. O enfoque da materia é práctico-reflexivo, no que se teñen que aplicar os coñecementos teóricos na análise da realidade, identificando as características máis salientables de cada proposta teórica en prácticas socioeducativas reais.
