General description To introduce the student to the design and calculation of non-conventional structures and therefore less frequent in the normal professional activity, with special emphasis on light structures, large span roofs and high-rise buildings. In view of the constant evolution of digital media and processes as instruments for design, analysis, representation and fabrication, students will be immersed in the use of computer tools for structural analysis. For this purpose, processes based on BIM (Building Information Model) will be used, deepening the relationship between the building information model and the analytical model. The student will be able to make appropriate use of the programs available in the Assisted Design Laboratory of the School of Architecture: Revit Architecture, free distribution platforms such as the Kangaroo module on Rhinoceros-Grasshopper among others. Also the knowledge acquired in the process of the development of the project of structures will be linked with digital fabrication tools, 3D printers and various numerical control machinery available in the Digital Fabrication Laboratory of the ETSAC. For this purpose, a series of practices will be carried out based on elementary examples that will enable the creation and subsequent structural analysis of small-scale models.
